
Bulldogs Take Fifth At Davidson College Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. The Gardner-Webb men's golf team posted a fifth-place finish at the Davidson College Invitational Tuesday afternoon in the eight-team field.
The Bulldogs were led by Scott Wheeler's sixth-place performance. Wheeler posted an eight-over par (224) for sixth.
Just one stroke behind him was Ryan Bell, who tied for seventh place. Bell recovered from a second-round 79 to shoot a 74 over the final 18 holes for a 225.
Andrew Rickard tied for 13th after amassing a three-round total of 226, 10-over par. Rickard posted scores of 72-74-80.
Senior Blake Palmer posted a 229 for the tournament. He shot a final-round 80, leaving him in a tie for 21st. Immu Korvenmaa was 32nd with a 54-hole tally of 234. Korvenmaa fired a 73-80-81 for the tournament.
For the competition, GWU shot a 903, firing a 310 on the final round. The 310 dropped the Bulldogs from a first-place lead it held after 36 holes.
GWU returns to action Oct. 20-21 when they hit the links in
Charleston, S.C., at the CSU Fall Intercollegiate.
