CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team has been selected sixth in the Big South Conference poll, as announced by the league's office earlier today.
The Bulldogs, coming off a 13-18 season and an 8-8 campaign in the Atlantic Sun Conference, were picked sixth in the poll, which was voted on by head coaches and media.
Liberty tops the preseason ballot by amassing 17 first-place ballots. Winthrop garnered one first-place nod while being picked second.
High Point was third, followed by Radford and UNC Asheville. The Highlanders picked up the other lone first-place vote.
GWU and Coastal Carolina each registered 73 points to tie for sixth place. Each squad had the same amount of fifth-place votes while the Chanticleers had more sixth-place votes. However, the Bulldogs garnered more seventh-place nods, but more of the media picked CCU to finish eighth than the Bulldogs, resulting in the sixth-place tie.
Charleston Southern picked up 55 total votes for eighth place while fellow league newcomer Presbyterian was ninth with 22 votes.
Liberty's Megan Frazee was named the Preseason Player of the Year while Moriah Frazee (Liberty), Ashley Fann (Winthrop), Pamela Tolbert (Charleston Southern) and Johnette Walker (Radford) rounded out the preseason all-conference team.

redshirt-juniors), five sophomores and three freshmen. Third-year
student-athlete Margaret Roundtree earned second-team all-Atlantic
Sun accolades last year while sophomore Monique Hudson was named
