
Bulldogs Tied For Eighth At Lady Pirate Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. Strong play by Dana Prozeller and Courtney Meyer has propelled the Gardner-Webb women's golf team into an eight-place tie after the first day of competition at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
The Bulldogs, who shot an opening-round 314, are tied with East Tennessee State and Florida International. Georgia State leads the field after firing a 299 while the host institution, East Carolina, is second at 303.
Prozeller and Meyer each tallied an opening-round 77, which is six-over-par for the course. The duo is in an 11-way tie for 20th place. Both are just six strokes off the lead as Florida International's Belen Buendia shot a first-round 72.
One stroke back from Prozeller and Meyer is Mackenzie Renner. She managed to shoot a first-round 78, seven-over-par. Renner stands in a tie for 31st.
Katie Garahan was 11-over-par for her first 18 holes and is tied for 63rd. Yayoi Garcia finished the first round 20-over-par.
Head coach Tee Burton's team is currently ahead of three Big South foes. Winthrop is in 15th place (321, +37), while High Point (339, +55) and Presbyterian (367, +83) are in 19th and 20th place, respectively.
The Bulldogs will look to improve on their first-round tally
when they return to action Monday as the group is just four strokes
out of fifth place in the 20-team field.
