Women's Tennis Sends Four to 2008 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships

Four players from the Gardner-Webb women's tennis team will be participating in the 2008 Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships at Wake Forest this week, October 22-27.
The Lady Bulldogs will be represented by two of its top performers, Laura Kriett and Jenny Gomez, in singles action this week. Kriett is entered into the Main Draw of singles play, while Gomez has her work cut out for her in the Pre-Qualifying Round.
Gomez's first round opponent is Pender Sessoms of N.C. State. If Gomez is able to beat Sessoms, she may have to play the fourth ranked seed of the Pre-Qualifier in the second round. Kriett's first round opponent will be Zsofia Zubor of Tennessee.
Kriett and Gomez will team up with two other Lady Bulldogs, Amy Beavers and Rita Gouveia, for doubles play. Gomez and Beavers are scheduled to play to ninth ranked home team of Sasha Kulikova and Sierra Poske from Wake Forest in the first round of doubles action. Kriett and Gouveia will be playing N.C. State's Neils Barringer and Diana Mortlock in the first round.
