Men's Tennis Wraps Up at 2008 All-American Championships

The second round of the pre-qualifying draw proved to be more difficult than the first for Gardner-Webb as both Evgeny Slesarev and Andrew Veeder were eliminated from the ITA All-American Championships in straight sets Saturday afternoon.
Despite the overall result, this was a great tournament for the Bulldogs to participate in. Both players received this honor because of their recognition on the tennis court. Slesarev received this same opportunity last year, while this marked Veeder's first time at the Championships.
This does a lot for us in preparation for the spring season", said men's tennis coach Mike Griffith. "There were a lot of close points that could have swayed either way for both players, and it just so happened that we came up on the short end this time."
The Bulldogs have three more tournaments scheduled for the fall season and then will open the spring season at Eastern Kentucky on January 16.
