
Gardner-Webb Men Take Sixth At Stono Cup

CHARLESTON, S.C. The Gardner-Webb men's golf team posted a final round 322, which put them in sixth place at the Stono Cup.
The Bulldogs were led by Ryan Bell, who notched a 10th-place finish by shooting a 221. After opening with a 69-72 on the first day, Bell shot an 80 over the final 18 holes.
Blake Palmer and Andrew Rickard tied for 23rd, ending with a 228. Palmer recorded a final round 82 while Rickard shot a 78 on the par-72, 5979 yard course.
Immu Korvenmaa and Brian Horton totaled identical rounds of 82 on the final day, resulting in a tie for 29th as each had a 233 for the tournament.
For the tournament, Gardner-Webb posted a three-round total of 908. Stephen F. Austin won the competition with an 884 while the host College of Charleston was fourth with an 888.
The men return to action Oct. 13-14 when they head to nearby
Davidson for the River Run Invitational.
