
Bulldogs To Face Liberty In Quarterfinal Match-up At Big South Conference Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Gardner-Webb volleyball program garnered the No. 8 seed in the Big South Conference and will take on top-seeded Liberty in the first round of the conference tournament, announced by the league office earlier today.
Liberty, High Point and Coastal Carolina posted identical 13-3 Big South records and was named the Big South Volleyball Regular-Season Co-Champions. The Lady Flames hold the tie breaker over the Panthers and Chanticleers and earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big South Volleyball championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. The tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 21 and will be played at the Justice Center on the campus of UNC Asheville.
High Point will be the No. 2 seed, while Coastal Carolina takes the No. 3 seed. UNC Asheville marked an 8-8 record to pick up the No. 4 seed and Winthrop finished the Big South season 7-9 to pick up the No. 5 seed. Charleston Southern finished the season at 5-11 in the Big South to land at the No. 6 spot, and Radford's 4-12 League record was good for the No. 7 seed. Big South newcomer Gardner-Webb rounds out the seeding at No. 8 as it went 3-13 in League play.
The 2008 Big South Volleyball Championship begins Friday, Nov. 21 with four matches, and concludes with the Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 23 in Asheville, N.C. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
