
Bulldogs Wrap Up Fall Season With Sixth-Place Finish

CULLOWHEE, N.C. The Gardner-Webb men's golf team recorded a 10-stroke improvement from the first day of competition at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for sixth place Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs, which tied with Francis Marion, posted a two-round
score of 588. Central Florida notched the team victory by one
stroke over second-place Vanderbilt while Akron, Elon and Western
Carolina rounded out the top five.
The duo of Immu Korvenmaa and Blake Palmer posted identical scores at the competition. Each tallied a two-round effort of 145 for 19th place. After shooting a 73 over the first 18 holes, Korvenmaa and Palmer were each just one over par on the final day of play.
Scott Wheeler totaled a two-shot improvement from his first round. Wheeler, who tied for 34th, had a two-day score of 148 after shooting a 73 over the final 18 holes.
Teammates Ryan Bell and Kristopher Gray each had major improvements from the first day of play. The duo tied for 52nd after shooting a 151. Bell, who shot a 79 yesterday, posted a 72 today. Gray shot a 73 for the final round after having a 78 in the first round.
The Bulldogs will return to action March 2-3 at the Lonnie D. Small
Collegiate in Buies Creek, N.C.
