Men's Tennis Holds Bright Future at Gardner-Webb

Gardner-Webb added more depth to its already stellar roster
Tuesday with Jeremie Tardif and William Kenny committing to the
Bulldogs for the 2009-2010 season.
Tardif, a Montreal, Quebec native, was spotted by head men's tennis
coach Mike Griffith at the College Tennis Exposure Camp hosted by
LeHigh University this past summer. Tardif, who ranks in the top
15 of the U-18 class in Quebec, won the Warrior of the Week honor
at the CTE Camp out of 90+ prospects. "He has a fiery personality
and is a fierce competitor," said Griffith. "He is a big point
player and could really excel in doubles for us." While at
Gardner-Webb Tardif plans to major in Business.
Kenny, a native of Buck Hill Falls, PA, also caught the eye of
Griffith at the very same camp. Kenny had attended the camp
previously but entered this year's camp with a more impressive
skill level. "I saw him a couple years ago, but he seemed to have
improved upon his game a lot since the last time I saw him,"
Griffith commented. "He brings a lot to the table. He shows good
preparation and is a battler on the court. He's very athletic and
is solid on both his forehand and backhand shots and I think he
will do well to improve our doubles play." While attending
Gardner-Webb Kenny plans on majoring in Pre-Med.
"Recruiting these guys was an enjoyable experience for me because I
was able to see not only the level of their play, but also how they
interacted with their peers. I also was able to see the way they
prepared for matches. After seeing all these things, I think
Jeremie and William will thrive in college tennis. These two
players understand the team aspect of the sport and should prove to
be good additions to our program here at Gardner-Webb."
