Lady Bulldogs Record Perfect Showing

The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team recorded its fifth win of
the season after sweeping North Greenville, 7-0. The ladies won all
three doubles matches, as well as all six of the singles to make it
a perfect victory.
Coach Corn switched things up in doubles by starting Laura Kriett
and Jenny Gomez at the one spot for the Bulldogs. Kriett and Gomez
didn't waste any time in their first match together. The duo only
dropped two games as they downed North Greenville's Salem Erni and
Cherie Curtis 8-2.
Amy Beavers and Rita Gouveia started at the two spot for the
Bulldogs. The Bulldog tandem didn't drop a single point and won
their match 8-0 over Courtney Lynn and Lindsey McNeely.
Senior Monica Walser and freshman Nicole Scates played their first
match together at the three spot on Friday afternoon. They also
only dropped two points for an 8-2 victory.
Singles play went by pretty fast seeing as the Bulldogs only
dropped 11 games as a team.
Kriett picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at the one spot over NGU's Salem
Erni, while Jenny Gomez won her match 6-0, 6-1 over Cherie Curtis
at the two spot.
Rita Gouveia didn't drop a point in her match as she downed
Courtney Lynn 6-0, 6-0.
Monica Walser played a good game and took down Lindsey McNeely 6-2,
6-2 at the four spot.
Amy Beavers improved her streak to eight matches in a row after
defeating Aubrey Sawyer 6-0, 6-0 at the five spot.
Allie Mills rounded out the Bulldogs with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over
Caitlyn Whitted at the six spot.
The Bulldogs will get up early tomorrow morning to host
Jacksonville at 9:30 a.m. Both the men and women's teams will be
hosting Jacksonville tomorrow at the Webb Tennis Complex.
