
Bulldogs Earn Top-10 Finish At Shamrock Intercollegiate

ROCK HILL, S.C. The Gardner-Webb women's golf team took home a 10th-place finish at the Shamrock Intercollegiate golf tournament that was hosted by Winthrop University over the Easter weekend.
The Bulldogs finished with a three-round score of 1014, placing ahead of teams such as future Big South opponent Presbyterian, who finished in 11th 69 shots behind head coach Tee Burton's squad.
Murray State took home the title with a three-round total of 935 while host Winthrop placed fourth with a 940.
The Bulldogs' top finisher was Katie Garahan, who tied for 30th with a three-round score of 248. After shooting an 82 the first two rounds, she recorded an 84 over the final 18 holes.
Courtney Meyer posted a 250 for the event. She shot an 85 the first and third rounds, but tallied an 80 for the middle round.
Tied for 53rd was Mackenzie Renner. Renner started out well by shooting an 84, but dropped back to the pack with a second-round 92. However, she saved her best for last, coming home with an 82 the final round for a 258 total.
Yayoi Garcia tied for 59th after shooting a 265. Garcia steadily improved over the tournament after shooting a 93 to start the tournament. She shot a 90 the second round before tying Renner and Garahan for the second-lowest total for GWU. Garcia had an 82 over the final 18 holes.
Dana Prozeller was just behind Garcia, finishing the tournament with a 266 for 61st place. Prozeller shot a 96 for the opening round before shooting back-to-back 85's to finish the tournament.
The Bulldogs return to action March 31-April 1 when they travel
to Kennesaw State for the Larry Nelson Invitational.
