
GWU's Nate Blank Named To Mid-Major Freshman All-America Team

NEW ROCHELLE, N.J. Gardner-Webb forward Nate Blank was
named Monday to the CollegeHoops.net Mid-Major Freshman All-America
Team, the first GWU player to earn that distinction.
Blank, a versatile, 6-foot-4, 220-pounder, was an honorable mention
choice by CollegeHoops.net, one of the top basketball website's in
the world.
The Terre Haute, Ind., native enjoyed a stellar first season at GWU
being named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year as
well. He averaged 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per
game while hitting 60-of-157 shots from long distance, and
79.5 percent from the charity stripe.
In A-Sun play, Blank averaged 11.0 points per game and knocked down
45.0 percent of his shots from long range. His 22-point outburst in
the A-Sun quarterfinals helped GWU advance past No. 3 seed Stetson.
Blank showed considerable promise early in the season, scoring 12
points in the team's sizeable win over No. 20 Kentucky, and netting
a career-high 25 points at Connecticut on Nov. 20.
Blank entered Gardner-Webb with high expectations after
earning a spot on the prestigious Indiana All-Star Team following a
strong prep career in the Hoosier State.
He played in one of the state's top basketball conferences, which
featured current Indiana sensation Eric Gordon, among others.
Blank is one of four Gardner-Webb starters who will return for the
2008-2009 season which includes three of the team's top four
scorers from this past season.
