Men's Tennis Puts Up Another 'W' in Conference Action

The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team advanced to 4-3 in the A-Sun
with a 6-0 beating over Belmont on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs
swept all six of the singles matches to add a 12th win to their
record-breaking season.
Due to a weather delay, the two teams began the match with singles
play.
Andrew Veeder won a tough match over Belmont's Ignacio Gesto (6-4,
7-6) at the No. 1 spot. Veeder won the tiebreaker 7-3 to record his
first ever win at the No. 1 position for the Bulldogs.
Rafael Altmayer defeated Felipe Lima (6-4, 6-1) at the No. 2 spot,
while Taylor Ferrier notched his 14th win of the season with a
(6-0, 6-2) downing of Zach Zola at the No. 3 spot.
Jamie Lawlor made short work of Fransisco Garcia at the No. 4 spot,
winning (6-1, 6-1), while his doubles partner, Ryan Bernthal, won
(6-0, 6-1) at the No. 6 spot.
Freshman Joshua Ray also got a win on Saturday, with a (6-1, 6-0)
victory over Ian Schinelli at the No. 5 spot.
Seeing as the Bulldogs already had the match won after singles
play, the two teams decided not to play doubles and the match ended
at 6-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Coach Griffith commented, "Again due to the delay our team kept
their composure and did what was necessary to get the
‘W'."
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, April 2nd as they
will travel to the East Coast to take on ECU. The match is
scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
