Evgeny Slesarev Named Player of the Week in Men's Tennis

Sophomore Evgeny Slesarev was named last week's Atlantic Sun
Player of the Week after recording a 3-0 mark against Longwood,
Lipscomb, and ECU at the No. 1 slot for the Bulldogs.
His work at the No. 1 slot also helped the ‘Dogs to a 2-1
mark, including a victory over A-Sun foe Lipscomb. This marks his
first A-Sun Player of the Week honor this season and the second
over his career at Gardner-Webb.
The Krasnoyarsk, Russia native didn't drop a single set in his
three singles matches and took 2-of-3 in doubles action with a 8-2
win over Lipscomb and an 8-5 win over ECU (ECU's No. 1 duo was
11—5 on the season entering the match).
Slesarev also tied the Gardner-Webb men's single-season wins record
of 14 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over ECU. He later set the new record
with his 15th win at Campbell on April 9th.
Evgeny has been a force at the No. 1 slot all year for the Bulldogs
and has seemed to dominate his opponents with his big serves and
big game.
