Couple of Lady 'Dogs Named to All-Atlantic Sun Teams
April 19, 2008 | Women's Tennis
Sophomore Laura Kriett and Freshman Rita Gouveia had the privilege of being named All-Atlantic Sun players this past Thursday. Kriett was named to the Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and Gouveia to the All-Freshman squad.
This marks the second straight year that Kriett has received All-Conference Status. Last season she was named to the First Team All-Atlantic Sun and the All-Freshman Team. Kriett did a great job at the No. 1 slot for the Lady Dogs, but unfortunately her conference record wasn't strong enough to get First Team honors this season.
In her first year at GWU, Gouveia has had her ups and downs. Towards the beginning of the season things didn't look so bright, but once conference play started Gouveia seemed to have a point to prove. She gained some good wins at the No. 3 slot and also began playing well in doubles. All of her hard work paid off, as she is now a member of the Atlantic Sun's All-Fresman Team.
