Wyszynski Headlines Group On Final Day Of Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Sarah Wyszysnki posted a top-10 finish in the javelin, headlining a small group of student-athletes that competed for Gardner-Webb on the final day of the Duke Invitational.
Wyszynski, who is still returning from an injury she sustained a while back, recorded a throw of 37.05m (121'7"), which was good enough for eighth overall. She took seventh among collegiate competitors.
Two-sport student-athlete Beth Long crossed the finish line in 21st place in the 800m run. She had a time of 2:23.73.
Caryn Daane also took 21st, but her place was in the shot put. Daane recorded a heave of 11.96m (39'3.75"). Brieanna Thompson garnered a 24th-place effort in the discus with a throw of 37.26m (122'3").
On the men's side, only a few student-athletes competed on the final day of the Duke Invitational – and all three that did, competed in the same event.
In the 800m, Tim Israel won his flight with a performance of 2:00.23. The time was good enough for 62nd. However, teammate Alex Nimmo's time of 2:00.05 put him in 58th position among the 104 person field. Charlie Steinke wasn't too far behind the duo, taking 74th in 2:01.26.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend as they take part in two different meets. Some of the team will head to the Sea Ray Relays, which is hosted by Tennessee while others will go to the Solid Orange Classic, which is hosted by Clemson.
