
Bulldogs Claim University Cup Title

MORGANTON, N.C. The Gardner-Webb men's and women's golf squads teamed up to capture the second annual University Cup over Appalachian State Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs claimed the title by a score of 5.5-2.5. The event was played at the Mimosa Hills Country Club. The event is a mixed foursome match play competition between the men's and women's teams from the two schools.
On a beautiful day on the course, head coach Tee Burton's squad captured five of the eight matches to obtain the victory.
Blake Palmer posted a victory over Dustin Hudson 2 and 1. Geordie Hagerman and Mackenzie Renner recorded a 2 and 1 victory against Colin Hobbs and Emily McGonagle. Joshua Philbeck and Yayoi Garcia edged Jake Wiesehan and Andrea Crawford 3 and 2.
Andrew Rickard and Courtney Meyer teamed up to down Jacob Eggers and Jordan Kreuter 6 and 5. Immu Korvenmaa and Dana Prozeller knocked off Taylor Hines and Emily Cheves 4 and 3.
Ryan Bell and Lindsay Hermanson halved with Lance Wheeler and Mary Kate Bowman for the 5.5 points.
Gardner-Webb has won both University Cups, dispensing Appalachian State by a 10-3 count a year ago.
The Gardner-Webb women's team will prepare for the Atlantic Sun
Championship, which is hosted by ETSU from April 14-16. The men's
team returns to action April 21-23 at the Atlantic Sun
Championship, which is hosted by Kennesaw State.
