'Dogs Fall to Campbell at Buies Creek, 1-6

The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team wrapped up their 2008 spring
season on Tuesday afternoon, as they traveled to Buies Creek, N.C.
to do battle with the Camels of Campbell University in A-Sun
action.
The ‘Dogs fought hard as both Evgeny Slesarev and Taylor
Ferrier yearned for a 15th victory, yet it wasn't enough as the
‘Dogs fell to the Camels 1-6.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 4-6 in conference play and 12-13
overall, while the win moves the Camels to 7-2 in the A-Sun and
15-6 overall.
In doubles play, Gardner-Webb lost the doubles point as they
dropped all three bouts to the Camels.
In singles action, the ‘Dogs lone victory came at the No. 1
position as Evgeny Slesarev downed Campbell's two-time player of
the week winner Davy Sum 7-6 (2), 6-2 to extend his win streak to
seven in a row. The victory also gives Slesarev an impressive 7-1
record in the A-Sun at the No. 1 position this year.
The men's tennis team will have a little over a week to prepare for
the A-Sun Championships on April 18-20 at ETSU.
