
Bulldogs Add Powerful Post Player To Already Solid Recruiting Class

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. Head coach Rick Reeves, in conjunction with the Gardner-Webb Athletics Department, has announced the signing of Breynna Winkler to a National Letter of Intent.
Winkler joins Teonika Webb as a freshman and will be on campus in the fall of 2008.
Winkler, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, will graduate from Union H.S.
"We are thrilled to have her sign with our program," Reeves said. "She helped her team go undefeated while winning a state championship in Class 6A, which is the largest in the state of Oklahoma. Breynna is a great student and a winner. She is a fine Christian lady and we are pleased to have her."
A four-year letterwinner at Union H.S., Winkler guided her team to a perfect 27-0 mark her senior campaign while helping the squad win the Class 6A state championship. During her senior campaign, Winkler helped the team to the Mid-America/Bertha Teague Classic Tournament Championship as well.
Winkler picked up Tulsa World all-Metro team honors as a junior and honorable mention all-Metro accolades as a senior. Her junior season, Winkler earned honorable mention all-state accolades. She was also part of three teams that qualified for the Class 6A tournaments throughout her high school career.
In addition to her outstanding performances on the basketball court, Winkler was a two-time state qualifier in the shot put for her track and field team. During her junior year, she helped the team win the state championship.
Winkler will be a strong addition to the post play of the
Bulldogs, who graduated senior LaToya Carter. She, along with Webb,
will join an extremely talented Bulldog squad in their first year
of competition in the Big South Conference.
