
Gardner-Webb Announces 2008-09 Women's Golf Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. The Gardner-Webb athletics department, in conjunction with head women's golf coach Tee Burton, has announced the 2008-09 women's golf schedule.
The Bulldogs, who are in their first season of action in the Big South Conference, will participate in 10 regular-season competitions before preparing for the Big South Championship Apr. 13-15 at the Patriot Golf Course in Ninety Six, S.C.
GWU kicks off the fall season at the Draper Valley Intercollegiate Sept. 8-9. The tournament marks the first of five fall events for Burton's squad.
The following week, the Bulldogs will head to the Great Smokies Women's Collegiate tournament, which is hosted by Western Carolina. After just two days off, GWU will take part in the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Sept. 19-21. Elon hosts that tournament.
On Oct. 6-7, the Bulldogs will hit the links in Charleston, S.C., for the Cuthbert Cup. The last fall tournament in which GWU will participate in is the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. The competition is a three-day affair, running from Oct. 19-21.
The spring season, which begins earlier this season than last, starts Feb. 22 at the Kiawah Island Spring Invitational. The tournament runs through the 24th and is hosted by the College of Charleston.
March 7-8 Bulldog fans can catch their team at the Moss Creek Intercollegiate. From there, GWU will head to the Shamrock Invitational March 20-22, which is hosted by Winthrop.
The Bulldogs will take part in the Larry Nelson Invitational (hosted by Kennesaw State) March 30-31. It will be the last multi-day regular-season tournament Burton's team will have.
On Apr. 8, GWU will square off against Appalachian State in the
inaugural University Cup at Mimosa Hills. The University Cup is a
quick tune-up for the Bulldogs as just five days later the team
will head to its first Big South Championship.
