
Bulldogs Tie For Third At Draper Intercollegiate

BOONE, N.C. In the fall season-opening event, the Gardner-Webb women's golf team put together a strong effort and finished tied with Tennessee Tech for third place at the Draper Intercollegiate.
Elon won the competition after posting a two-day score of 588. Western Carolina was second with a 591 while the Bulldogs and TTU each amassed a two-day score of 601.
The Bulldogs were led by last year's A-Sun all-freshman team selection Courtney Meyer. The sophomore posted identical scores of 73 to finish in a tie for sixth after shooting just two-over par (146).
Teammates Mackenzie Renner and Yayoi Garcia each shot 151, which put them in a tie for 15th place with Evansville's Lauren Ellerman. Renner shot scores of 75-76 for her total while Garcia heated up on the second day. After shooting an opening-round 79, Garcia came home with an eve par on the final 18 holes.
Senior Katie Garahan finished 29th after shooting an 11-over par, 155. Dana Prozeller tallied a 159 to finish in a tie for 43rd.
The Bulldogs travel to Cullowhee, N.C., Sept. 15-16 for the
Great Smokies Mountain Intercollegiate.
