
Bulldogs 12th After First Day Of Wolverine Intercollegiate

ANN ARBOR, Mich. In their season-opening tournament, the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs are 12th after the first day of the extremely tough Wolverine Intercollegiate.
During the first day, each student-athlete played 36 holes. Leading
the way for head coach Tee Burton's team was Immu Korvenmaa and
Blake Palmer. Each tallied 143 on the day, which ties them for
24th. Both opened up with 70's on the first 18 holes
before firing identical 73's on the final 18 of the afternoon.
Ryan Bell's 150 tied him for 62nd. After firing an
opening-round 78, he came back to shoot 72 in the afternoon
session. Andrew Rickard also recorded a 150 for the day. He opened
with a 79 before coming home with a 71.
Scott Wheeler posted identical 76's over the two rounds for a 152.
He is tied for 78th.
As a team, GWU shot a first-round 294 before a 289 over the final
18 holes for a first-day 583.
Leading the way at the two-day tournament is the host Michigan
Wolverines. Michigan shot a 557.
The Bulldogs hit the links tomorrow for the final day of
competition in the season-opening event.
