
Gardner-Webb Finishes 14th At Season-Opening Competition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Against extremely tough competition, the Gardner-Webb men's golf team ended its first tournament of the season 14th out of 16 teams at the Wolverine Intercollegiate.
The Bulldogs fired home a three-round total, 874, finishing ahead
of Oakland and Columbia.
Leading the way for head coach Tee Burton's team was Immu
Korvenmaa, who notched a 31st-place finish with a 246
(70-73-73).
Two strokes behind Korvenmaa was Andrew Rickard, who had a superb
final round. After opening with a 79-71 on Saturday, Rickard posted
a 68 for a 218 composite score. Korvenmaa tied for
40th.
Blake Palmer was one stroke behind Rickard, posting a 219 over the
54-hole event. Palmer tied for 47th after shooting
70-73-76.
Ryan Bell, who shot an opening-day 150, tallied a 75 over the final
18 holes for a 225, tying him for 69th place. Scott
Wheeler also shot a 75 Sunday, which gave him a total score of 227
(76-76-75). Wheeler tied for 77th at the season-opening
event.
The Bulldogs have some time off before preparing for the Cuthbert
Cup, which is hosted by the College of Charleston Oct. 6-7.
