
GWU's Didion and Long Named Big South Indoor Track Athletes of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. Gardner-Webb senior Jake Didion and sophomore Carrie Long have been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's and Women's Indoor Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, the League announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Didion, a senior from Garrett, Ind., set a school record in the
triple jump with a leap of 50' (15.24 meters) at the Virginia Tech
Invitational over the weekend. He finished second overall in the
event, just 0.13 meters shy of Akeem Hardnett of the University of
Tennessee.
Long, a sophomore from Franklin, N.C., posted a mark of 11'7.75"
(3.55 meters) to finish third in the pole vault at the Virginia
Tech Invitational.
The weekly conference honor was the first for both GWU performers
so far this season.
Both the men's and women's indoor track and field teams will be in
action this Saturday, as GWU will travel to Boone, N.C. to compete
in the Appalachian Opener.
