Rollyson's Goal Leads GWU To First Conference Road Win At VMI

LEXINGTON, VA- Sophomore Dawn Rollyson scored midway through the first half to lead the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team to the 1-0 victory over VMI Friday afternoon at Patchin Field.
The goal came in the 28th minute when Rollyson was able to get the ball past Keydet junior goalkeeper Heidi Beemer following a restart from midfield. Sophomore Stephanie Benshoof and freshman Jane Giesler were credited with the assist. Benshoof now has five assists on the season.
GWU freshman goalkeeper Samantha Rupert had a brilliant game in goal, shutting out the Keydet offense, earning five saves and earning her fifth shutout of the season.
The win gives the Lady Bulldogs a record of 9-6-0 and 3-1-0 in Big South, while VMI falls to 4-9-0 and 2-3-0 in conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action this Sunday afternoon as they take on the Radford Highlanders in Radford, VA. The match is scheduled to take place at 1:00 PM.
