Lady Bulldogs Compete at Lady Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C.

Greenville, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team returned to the links this week for the first time since late September, as the Lady Bulldogs finished 14th overall at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.
The Lady Bulldogs carded rounds of 317, 313 and 315 over the
two-day event, turning in a combined team score of 945, +93, for
the tournament.
Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was freshman Chelcia
Petersen, as the newcomer carded rounds of 79, 75 and 79, to finish
with a combined three-round score of 233, +20, and in a tie for
44th-place overall. Petersen's second round 75, +4, was the lowest
round for a Lady Bulldog for the two-day event.
Junior returner Courtney Meyer turned in a two-day combined score
of 236, +23, turning in rounds of 78, 80 and 78, to finish tied for
57th-place overall.
Right behind Meyer was fellow teammates Meghan Allum and Lauren
Smith, as the two freshmen both shot combined three-round scores of
238, +25, placing them in a tie at 63rd-place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs at the Lady Pirate
Intercollegiate was freshman Hannah Hellyer who turned in
three-rounds of 81 to shoot a 243, +30, for the event and finish
tied for 71st-place overall.
Sophomore Courtney Finocchiaro, who played as an individual at the
event, shot a combined score of 249, +36, over the
three-rounds.
Georgia State took first-place overall in the team standings, as
the Lady Panthers carded three straight team rounds of 293 to
finished with a low team score of 879, +27, for the tournament.
Host school East Carolina took second-place with a combined team
score of 881, +29, while East Tennessee State finished in third
with a score of 891, +39.
The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up its 2009 fall season next week, as
Gardner-Webb will take part in the Boscobel Intercollegiate hosted
by Wofford College in nearby Pendleton, S.C.
