Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer Prepares To Host Presbyterian and UNC Asheville This Weekend

BOILING SPRINGS, NC- After a two game road trip, the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team is set to play its last two home games of the 2009 season this weekend as they host Presbyterian Friday evening, and then host UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon on what will be Senior Day at Greene-Harbison Field.
The Lady Bulldogs enter the weekend with a overall record of 9-7-0, and 3-2-0 in Big South Conference play after losing to Radford in double-overtime this past Sunday by a 1-0 score.
Presbyterian enters the match with Gardner-Webb with a 3-9-1 overall record, and a 0-4-1 conference record following a 3-2 loss to Charleston Southern this past Sunday. Junior Kate Baker, who has three goals on the season, currently leads the Blue Hose offensively.
Presbyterian has dominated the all-time series between the two programs, with a 13-0-0 record, with all but last season's match taking place when the two programs were Division II members. Last season's match, which was the first in the series since 2001, was won by the Blue Hose by a score of 2-0. The match is set to take place at 7:00 PM Friday evening at Greene-Harbison Field.
Friday, the Lady Bulldogs will face off against UNC Asheville, who enters the week with a 4-7-1 overall record, and a conference record of 1-4-0 following a 2-0 loss to Coastal Carolina this past Sunday. The Bulldogs will face Winthrop Friday evening before taking on Gardner-Webb Sunday afternoon. UNC Asheville is currently led offensively by freshman Chloe Small-McCleary, who currently has four goals and one assist this season.
The all-time record between the two squads is currently tied at 3-3-0, with UNC-Asheville winning last season's match-up by a score of 3-0. The match is set to take place at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon at Greene-Harbison Field and can be seen on the Big South Network. Sunday's match will also be Senior Day, in which the team will honor its senior class. This year's members are Brooke Bull, Jillian Dean, Kasey Gladhill, Karissa Jensen, Bailey Stevens, and Jessica Tuggle.
