
GWU Women's Golf Takes Second at Boscobel Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team wrapped up its 2009 fall season this past weekend, as the Lady Bulldogs took second-place overall at the Boscobel Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College.
The Lady Bulldogs carded rounds of 316 and 311 to shoot a tournament team score of 627, +51.
GWU junior Courtney Meyer led the Lady Bulldogs, shooting rounds of 78 and 74 to finish the two-day event with a combined score of 152, + 8, placing her in fourth-place overall. Meyer's second round 74, +2, was the lowest round of the tournament for the Lady Bulldogs.
Also finishing in the top-10 was freshman Hannah Hellyer who turned in rounds of 79 and 78, finishing tied for eighth-place with a combined score of 157, +13.
Gardner-Webb's Chelcia Petersen and Lauren Smith both finished tied for 13th-place overall with both shooting a combined score of 160, +16, for the two-day event, while freshman Meghan Allum carded a two-round combined score of 162, +18, to finish 18th overall.
The host school Wofford College won the event, shooting a combined team score of 608, +32.
Finishing behind the Lady Bulldogs in third-place was Appalachian State with a score of 631, +55, while Presbyterian College (649, +73) and Mercer (656, +80) rounded out the top-five.
The Lady Bulldogs will take the winter off and will kick off its 2010 spring season on March 13-14 at the Moss Creek Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
