Lady Bulldogs Fall To Coastal Carolina 2-0 Thursday Night

CONWAY, SC- The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team fell to Coastal Carolina Thursday evening by a score of 2-0 at Coastal Carolina Soccer Field.
The match was scoreless until the 48th minute when Chanticleer senior Dana Gentile was able to score following a crossing pass from junior Anna Tupy. Sophomore Marissa Terry was also credited with an assist. Gentile was able to find the back of the net again in the 72nd minute, with assists from Terry and senior Samantha Teijelo.
Gardner-Webb had a few attempts to score, but were unable to find the back of the net. The best scoring attempts for the Lady Bulldogs both came in the 80th minute when freshman Jane Giesler had a shot that was saved by CCU goalkeeper Amy Haggard, which was quickly followed by a shot by freshman Michelle Jenkins that sailed over the crossbar.
Gardner-Webb falls to 11-8-0 overall and 5-3-0 in Big South Conference play, while Coastal Carolina improves to 6-11-2 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action Saturday night as they travel to Charleston, SC to face Charleston Southern. The match is set to take place at 7:00 at Blackbaud Stadium.
