GWU's Solano Named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Carolina Solano picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played Sept. 21-27, the League announced today.
Solano, a freshman from The Woodlands, Texas, posted 14 blocks and
averaged 1.27 blocks per set as Gardner-Webb went 2-1 last week.
Solano kicked her week off with five blocks against Presbyterian
College on Sept. 29 and followed the performance with four blocks
in a win over Davidson on Oct. 2. She closed out her week with
five total blocks in Gardner-Webb's 3-1 win over Charleston
Southern on Oct. 3. The right side hitter finished the week with
eight block solos and six block assists for the Bulldogs.
Solano is the first GWU volleyball player to receive a conference
weekly honor this season.
