
Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer To Take On Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern This Week

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team did not fair well at home last week, as the Bulldogs came away winless in its two conference home matches.
Gardner-Webb (5-2-1, 2-1-1 Big South) will look to rediscover its
winning ways this week, as the Bulldogs will travel to Conway, S.C.
to take on Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and then
will return to step out of conference play to host Georgia Southern
on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Gardner-Webb is 1-0-1 all-time versus the Chanticleers of Coastal
Carolina. Last season, in the two school's first ever match-up as
conference foes, the Bulldogs defeated Coastal Carolina 2-1in
Boiling Springs, N.C. The only other meeting between these two
teams' on the pitch came back in 2006, as the two played to a 1-1
draw at the Furman Tournament in Greenville, S.C.
The Chanticleers, who were picked second in the pre-season coaches
pole, are 3-2-4 overall this season and 0-0-1 in Big South
Conference play.
Gardner-Webb will look to remain perfect on the road this season,
as the Bulldogs will take on Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night in
Conway, S.C. Thus far this season, GWU is 3-0 and has not allowed
a single goal when playing on the other team's home turf.
GWU is 2-2-0 against the Georgia Southern Eagles all-time, having
won the first ever meeting between these two schools, 2-1 back in
2004. Yet, last season it was the Eagles who came out on top,
defeating the Bulldogs 4-1 in Statesboro, Georgia.
This season the Eagles are 0-8-1 thus far and are in search of its
first win on the year.
Gardner-Webb is 3-1 thus far this season in non-conference play,
with all three wins coming at home at Greene-Harbison Field.
Every week throughout the 2009 men's soccer season, the
Gardner-Webb athletic media relations' office will produce game
