GAME NOTES: Gardner-Webb Wraps Up 2009 Season With Trip To Old Rival Presbyterian
November 20, 2009 | Football
BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb will play its final game of 2009
at an old rival, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will face the Presbyterian
Blue Hose for the 32nd time in school history.
The 'Dogs (5-5, 2-3 Big South) are in search of their first winning
season since 2006, while the tradition-rich Blue Hose (0-10, 0-5
Big South) are looking to avoid their first winless campaign since
the 1950s.
GWU has dropped three league games in a row, after getting off to a
5-2 start and 2-0 ledger in the Big South, despite leading all
three contests - vs. Stony Brook, at Coastal Carolina and vs. #16
Liberty - at halftime.
Quarterback Stan Doolittle needs less than 100 yards passing to
reach both 2,000 for the season and 5,000 for his career in Boiling
Springs, and will be playing his final game in a Gardner-Webb
uniform, as will 20 other GWU seniors.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm in the new Bailey Memorial Stadium in
Clinton, S.C.
