Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's basketball has
signed four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, a
strong recruiting haul during the early signing period.
The Lady Bulldogs added 6-3 forward Kendra Brown (Stanford,
Ky./Lincoln County HS), 6-1 guard Tabby Koerner (Concord, N.C./Jay
M. Robinson HS), 6-3 forward Catrina Green (Greensboro,
N.C./Western Guilford HS) and 5-9 guard Jasmine Dale (LaVergne,
Tenn./LaVergne HS).
"We are excited about this recruiting class," commented Head Coach
Rick Reeves. "Not only are all of the signees good athletes, but
they are excellent students and Christian ladies."
Brown is a 6-3 post player at Lincoln County HS in Stanford, Ky.
where she is averaging 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists
per game thus far in her career. Brown was named to the All Area
Team in both 2008 and 2009, was a 12th Region All Star, a Kentucky
JR All-Star and the MVP of the Doss Tournament in Louisville.
Brown has recorded the most blocks and most rebounds on her team in
the last three seasons - 2009, 2008, and 2007 and posted the best
free throw percentage on the team in 2008.
"Kendra can play both in the post and out on the perimeter," stated
Coach Reeves. "She is a very versatile player and with her size
she will look to fill the void that will be left by senior Margaret
Roundtree. We expect Brown to have a great career during her time
here at Gardner-Webb."
Koerner is a 6-1 forward at Jay M. Robinson HS in nearby Concord,
N.C. where she is averaging 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.9
steals per game. Koerner, who plays down low for Jay M. Robinson
HS, uses her size well and is a very versatile player.
"Basketball is in Tabby's blood, as both her parents played college
basketball," continued Coach Reeves. "Tabby has an excellent shot
and can shoot the three. With her size and versatility she will
play mostly on the perimeter for us. Once she learns to play
totally on the perimeter we expect great things from her."
Green, a 6-3 post player from Western Guilford HS in Greensboro,
N.C., averaged 14 points. 11 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.0 steals
per game last year as a junior. Green was named to the Triad 3A
All-Conference Team and lead Western Guilford to the second round
of the state playoffs last season. Green chose GWU over the likes
of Harvard, Yale, Brown and other Colonial Conference schools.
"Catrina is a true post player in every sense of the word," added
Reeves. "She is a power player and is very strong around the
basket. We expect her to fill in for seniors Margaret Roundtree
and Sherika McLean when they depart after this season. While we
have had more finesse players in the low post over the last few
years, Catrina is a true power player, a true low post player."
Dale is a 5-9 guard at LaVergne HS in LaVergne, Tenn., one of the
top high schools in the Volunteer State. Dale is averaging 13.8
points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game in her
career at LaVergne HS.
"Jasmine plays for one of the best high school's and AAU programs
in Tennessee," continued Reeves. "She is a very quick and athletic
guard that can cause problems for other teams as she is
left-handed. Jasmine has an excellent three-point shooter and can
play both guard positions."
