
Five Lady Bulldogs Earn Big South Conference Postseason Awards

CHARLESTON, SC- Five different members of the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team earned postseason honors, as announced by the Big South Conference Wednesday evening. Junior Sarah Keyser and sophomore Megan Reimer both made the 1st Team All-Conference, with senior Brooke Bull being named to the 2nd Team All-Conference. Freshman Samantha Rupert was named to the All-Freshman team and sophomore Megan Tremblay was named to the All-Academic team.
Keyser, a midfielder from Boonsboro, Md., had been the leader of the Gardner-Webb midfield throughout the season. Throughout the season, she has scored four goals and recorded two assists. She has attempted two penalty kicks, and has converted both for goals. Her tough, tenacious play has been a big part of the success that the Lady Bulldogs has experienced this season, with a 12-8-0 overall record.
Reimer, a forward from Hamilton, Ohio, is the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with nine goals. A recipient of the Big South Player of the Week award on September 8th, she ranks third in the Big South in goals, goals per game (0.45), and points (18).
Bull, a defender from Sherman, Ill., has been a major part of Gardner-Webb's defense throughout the season. The Lady Bulldogs have shut their opponents out nine times during the season, with a conference leading goals-allowed average of 0.93
Rupert, a goalkeeper from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been remarkable in goal throughout the season, recording seven shutouts, which leads the Big South. She also ranks first in shutouts per game (0.41). In conference play, she ranks second in goals against average (0.48), save percentage (0.917), and saves per game (5.50).
Tremblay, a midfielder from Jacksonville, Fla., has one goal and four assist during the season thus far. Her play in the midfield for the Lady Bulldogs has contributed to their success throughout the season, and her work in the classroom has been outstanding, having a 4.0 grade-point average while double majoring in economics and finance.

Gardner-Webb begins play in the 2009 Big South Conference Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting Thursday afternoon as the #2 seeded Lady Bulldogs face #7 High Point at 4:30 PM at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. The tournament will run from Thursday, November 5th to Sunday, November 8th.
