Wrestling Falls Hard in Final Dual Meet of the Season

Red-shirt junior Dustin Porter recorded the only win for the
Bulldogs on Tuesday night, as Gardner-Webb dropped its last match
of the dual season to Citadel, 42-3. The men finished the season
with an overall record of 4-15 in dual meets.
The Bulldogs fell behind early in their match against Citadel,
dropping two of the first three matches by forfeit.
Close decision matches came at 149 and 184 for the Bulldogs. At
149, Austin Reece dropped a 9-5 decision to Citadel's Pierre
Frazile, and at 184, Jonathon Velasquez dropped a heartbreaker,
9-8, to Kelby Smith.
Porter, who is ranked 19th in the nation by intermatwrestle.com,
notched his 31st victory this season with a 3-1 decision over
Citadel's Aaron Brown. The win excels Porter to 31-5 for the
season.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Saturday, March 7, when they
will host the NCAA East Regional Championships.
