Men's Tennis Falls, 6-1, at Wofford

The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team had a rough time on Sunday afternoon, falling to Wofford, 6-1, at the Reeves Tennis Center. The loss drops the ‘Dogs to 3-12, while Wofford advances to 6-7 on the year.
In doubles, the Bulldogs didn't fare as well as they did on Saturday as Wofford was able to sweep all three matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs had chances at the first and third positions, but the Terriers were able to hold for an 8-6 win at one and a 9-7 win at three.
Junior Evgeny Slesarev tallied the only win in singles competition with a 6-1, 6-4 performance at the first position over Wofford's Stuart Robertson. Sophomore Andrew Veeder had a close match at two, but fell in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Junior Rafael Altmayer also played hard on Sunday, but came up a game short of forcing a third set tiebreaker as he fell 6-3, 7-6 at the third position. The rest of the team also fell in straight sets to the Terriers.
The ‘Dogs won't spend much time worrying about the loss as they host Erskine on Monday, followed by Indiana State on Tuesday.
