Rizzuto, who went 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in
the game.
Kurt Fulginiti went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three
runs, and seven other Bulldogs collected one hit each as
Gardner-Webb rapped out 12 hits in the game.
The 'Dogs needed just one hit, an infield single
from Matt Sapp, in the top of the first to go up 4-0 - as Upstate
(7-18) walked three and hit two in the frame. Rizzuto drove in two
runs with a single in the second for a 6-0 lead, then pushed the
lead to 8-0 with his two-run blast in the fourth. The Wilmington,

two singles through the first four frames, and fanned a career-high
four batters before exciting.
Upstate plated a run in the sixth, and scored a
pair on a two-out home run by Ryan Wilkins in the seventh - but got
no closer. GWU scored its final run after a Fulginiti single, a
pair of ground balls and a wild pitch in the eighth.
