Lady Bulldogs Place Sixth in 2009 Big South Women's Tennis Championship

The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team claimed the sixth seed in this year's Big South Women's Tennis Championship by posting a 2-5 mark in conference action. Winthrop notched the top seed by claiming its eighth consecutive regular-season title and posting a perfect 7-0 record in the Big South.
The 2009 Big South Women's Tennis Championship begins Thursday, April 16 with three matches and concludes with the Championship game on Saturday, April 18 at 9:00am. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship.
Liberty earns the No. 2 seed at 6-1, while Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina tie for third place with a 4-3 record. The Lady Bucs receive the No. 3 seed due to its win over the Chanticleers during the season. UNC Asheville secures the fifth seed at 3-4. Radford and Gardner-Webb (2-5) tie for the sixth spot, and with Radford's win over GWU earlier this season, the Highlanders capture the No. 6 seed and the Bulldogs earn the No. 7 seed.
