Garahan, Meyer Earn Big South Conference Postseason Honors

Charlotte, N.C.– Gardner-Webb senior Katie Garahan was named Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's golf, in addition to garnering Academic All-Conference accolades.
Sophomore Courtney Meyer earned All-Conference honors as well from the League's head coaches.
Garahan, who is majoring in English with a concentration in Professional Education, has been the top-performer for the Bulldogs in two of the Bulldogs nine tournaments this season. The senior from Rock Hill, S.C., adds to accolades with her Big South Scholar-Athlete and All-Conference honors, as she has twice been named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team, earned a spot on the All-American Scholar Team announced by the National Golf Coaches' Association and was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team in 2005-06.
Meyer continues to rack up postseason honors in her short career thus far at Gardner-Webb, as the sophomore was named to the All-Conference team. Meyer, who was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team last season, was the top-Bulldog golfer in six out of the Bulldogs nine tournaments thus far this season, including a fourth-place individual finish at the Larry Nelson Intercollegiate Invitational on March 30-31, which the Bulldogs took first-place in as a team.
Earlier this season, Meyer was named the Choice Hotels Big South Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 26-April1.
Gardner-Webb, who earned the No. 4 seed heading into the 2009 Big South Conference Championship tournament, will participate in the Championship event on April 13-15.
