Gardner-Webb Heads to Conway, S.C. to Battle Coastal Carolina in Weekend Conference Series (April 4-5)
April 03, 2009 | Softball
Boiling Springs, N.C. Coach Cole's squad is coming off a doubleheader split with Presbyterian College on Thursday afternoon, in which the win was the Bulldogs first ever conference win as a member of the Big South.
Gardner-Webb (12-18, 1-5 Big South) will look to add to its win
column this weekend, as the Bulldogs travel down to Conway, S.C. to
take on Coastal Carolina (10-20, 1-2 Big South) in a conference
weekend series.
This year's meeting between the Bulldogs and the Chanticleers will
be the fifth straight season in which these two squads have
squared, but the first time as conference foes.
The Bulldogs are 4-4 overall against the Chanticleers since moving
to Division I in 2000-01, but have won the last three match ups
over Coastal Carolina.
Last season, Gardner-Webb defeated Coastal Carolina in both games
of a doubleheader, winning game one 5-3 and game two by a score of
4-3 on April 8 in Conway, S.C.
The first pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
Sunday's single game is set for a 1 p.m. start time.
Before every game throughout the softball season, the Gardner-Webb
sports information office will produce game notes featuring the
upcoming contests, as well as a review of the season to date.
