GWU's Christine Murray Tabbed the New Balance Pitcher of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. – Gardner-Webb's Christine Murray was named the New Balance Pitcher of the week, while Radford's Nichole Beall was tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels softball Player of the Week, the League announced today.
Murray, a junior from Brampton, Ontario, struck out 35 hitters and
posted a 1.46 ERA as she went 3-1 for Gardner-Webb last week. She
got her week started with 10 strikeouts as she held Presbyterian to
just one hit to pick up the complete game shutout on April 2. She
followed that performance with six strikeouts in three innings of
relief work in a loss against the Blue Hose in game two.
Murray rebounded two days later with 12 strikeouts in a 3-2 win
over Coastal Carolina. In the game vs. the Lady Chanticleers, she
was perfect through five innings and held the Coastal Carolina to
just two runs and four hits. She closed out the week with seven
strikeouts in GWU's 2-1 win over Coastal Carolina on April 5.
For the week, Murray tossed 24 innings and allowed just five runs,
while issuing only one walk.
The honor marks her first Pitcher of the Week plaudit this
season.
