
Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Mimosa Hills Women's Intercollegiate

Morganton, N.C. The Gardner-Webb women's golf team picked up a seventh-place team finish at the 2009 Mimosa Hills Women's Intercollegiate tournament in Morganton, N.C., despite windy conditions and sporadic snow showers.
The Bulldogs turned in a combined team score of 652, +76, finishing in front of High Point, Western Kentucky and The Citadel.
GWU was paced by senior Mackenzie Renner as she turned in two rounds of 81, finishing the tournament with a combined score of 162, +18, placing her in 22nd-place overall. Fellow classmate Yayoi Garcia carded a GWU low round of 79, +7, on Tuesday, turning in a combined score of 164, +20, and finishing in a tie for 23rd-place overall.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was seniors Katie Garahan and Dana Prozeller, as well as sophomore Courtney Meyer, who all finished the two-day event with a score of 166, +22, and tied for 27th-place overall.
Augusta State held off Elon by one stroke to pick up the overall team win with a combined tournament score of 611, +35, while Elon carded a 612, +36.
Tournament host Western Carolina finished in third with a team combined score of 625, +49, while fellow Southern Conference member Appalachian State took fourth-place with a score of 643, +67. Samford rounded out the top-five with a score of 644, +68.
The Bulldogs will now concentrate on the 2009 Big South Conference Championships, as the tournament kicks off on Monday, April 13, in Ninety Six, S.C.
