
Bulldogs Garner the No. 5 Seed for the 2009 Big South Softball Championship

Charlotte, N.C. Gardner-Webb head softball coach Tom Cole and his squad have garnered the No. 5 seed in the 2009 Big South Softball Championship presented by Texas Roadhouse in Radford, Va. on May 7-9.
The Bulldogs posted a 6-12 conference record in its first year as a Big South Conference member in 2009 and will look to make waves in its first ever Big South Softball Championship.
The Radford Highlanders posted a 16-2 record in Big South play to earn the school's first ever
Big South regular-season championship and No. 1 seed in the 2009 Big South Softball Championship.
Winthrop notched a 15-3 record in the Conference to garner the second seed. Liberty went 10-8 in the Big South and earned the No. 3 seed. Charleston Southern finished its Big South slate at 7-11 to land the No. 4 slot.
Coastal Carolina rounds out the seeds at No. 6 as it went 4-14 in Conference action.
The 2009 Softball Championship begins Thursday, May 7 with four games scheduled and continues with bracket play through May 9. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament.

Game 4: No. 2 Winthrop vs. winner game 2, 5:30pm
