Gardner-Webb
student-athletes Kelly Bridges, Diana Palka, Mike McPherson, Evan
Brusich and Charlie Steinke all traveled to High Point, N.C. this
weekend to compete in the 2009 High Point University
Vertklasse Meeting.
Bridges led the
Bulldogs at the meet, taking third-place overall in the women's
pole vault challenge, as the senior finished third overall with a
height of 3.65 meters.
Bridges was just behind the first and second-place finishers who
both cleared the bar at 3.85 meters.
GWU's Palka picked
up fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase event on Saturday,
crossing the finish line with a time of 12:19.21.
On the men's side,
McPherson took second-place in the men's shot put event with a
throw of 13.88 meters, while Brusich finished in seventh-place
overall with a time of 15.35 in the men's 110 meter
hurdles.
Redshirt-junior
Charlie Steinke finished in 12th-place in the 800 meter run with a
time of 1:56.55.
The participating
schools included, Bryan, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina,
Gardner-Webb, Guilford, High Point, Livingstone, Queens (N.C.),
Radford, U.S. Navy, Virginia Tech, and Winthrop.
