Greensboro, N.C. The Gardner-Webb University outdoor track and field team had four student-athletes compete at the NCAA East Regionals meet this weekend in Greensboro, N.C.
The Bulldogs had two student-athletes compete on each day of the two-day event.
On Friday, both senior Kelly Bridges and junior Paul Steinke were in action. Bridges finished tied for 19th overall in the women's pole vault event, clearing the bar at a height of 3.66 meters. Steinke picked up a 14th-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles preliminaries on Friday afternoon, crossing the finish line with a time of 52.31, just missing out on the finals heat on Saturday.
On Saturday, redshirt-freshman thrower Christoph Hutschalik competed in the men's hammer throw event, taking 15th-place overall with a toss of 56.07 meters, while sophomore Adam Reed failed to record a clear the bar on three separate tries at 4.91 meters in the men's pole vault event.
The meet was the final intercollegiate meet for senior Kelly Bridges who graduated earlier this month. However, all three other NCAA East Regional competitors, Steinke, Hutschalik and Reed all return for next season.
