
Men's Swimming Adds Nine for 2009-10

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University Athletics Department along with the men's swimming head coach Mike Simpson are excited to announce its 2009-2010 recruiting class. The incoming class of nine will continue to improve the depth of the current squad, and will be relied upon to make an immediate impact at the CCSA conference championships.
Joining the Bulldogs in 2009-10 will be:
• Seth Carter from Knoxville, TN where he swims for Atomic
City Aquatic Club and Farragut High School. He was All-State in the
100 fly and 400 free relay and also earned High School All-American
status in the 400 free relay.
• Andrew Ellwanger from Newborn, GA where he swims for the
Rockdale Riptides Swim Team and Eastside High School. He was
All-State in the 100 breaststroke at both GA High School State and
the GA Senior State Championships.
• Darryl Hughes from Snellville, GA where he was
homeschooled and swims for Dekalb Aquatics Swim Team. He is a Jr.
National qualifier and was All-State at the GA Senior State
Championships.
• John Kempf from Charlotte, NC where he swims for Swim MAC
Carolina and Covenant Day School. He is a 3-time high school state
champion, 2A state record holder in the 400 Free Relay, and was
awarded All-State and All-Conference honors.
• Kevin Koenig from West Chester, OH where he swims for the
Cincinnati Marlins and Archbishop Moeller High School. He is a High
School All-American, Junior National qualifier, Ohio State
qualifier, and was named 1st Team Greater Catholic League.
• Brody McMorris from Evans, GA where he swims for
Aiken-Augusta Swim League and Evans Christian Academy. He is a
Sectional Qualifier and received All-State honors.
• Tyler Nuss from Fairfield, OH where he swims for
Countryside YMCA Torpedoes and Fairfield Senior High School. He is
a 2-time Ohio State qualifier, 5-time YMCA National qualifier, and
was named All-Conference for both academics and the 200 IM.
• Tyler Revels from Venice, FL where he swims for the
Sarasota YMCA Sharks and Venice High School. He is a 3-time high
school state finalist, Wendy's High School Heisman award winner,
and a member of Sarasota's YMCA National Championship teams of
2007,2008, and 2009.
• Mitchell Turner from Acworth, GA swims for Chattahoochee
Gold and Kell High School. He is a Jr. National qualifier, 2009
Cobb County Swimmer of the Year, team captain, and is the 2-time
recipient of his high school's MVP award.
The Bulldogs, in only the programs second year in existence,
finished third at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association
Championships last season and will look to continue to make a
splash in both the pool and in the classroom in 2009-10.
