
GWU Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award

SKILLMAN, NJ- The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team has been
recognized for its success in the classroom by receiving a 2009
Division I All-Academic Team award from the International Tennis
Association (ITA). In addition to the team award, eight members of
the squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
A total of 102 Division I programs were recognized as women's 2009
ITA All-Academic teams.
To be nominated, the team must have a cumulative team grade-point
average of 3.200 or higher.
The members of the GWU women's tennis team to be named ITA
Scholar-Athletes were Amy Beavers, Tavenner Black, Kasey Ellis,
Jenny Gomez, Rita Gouveia, Laura Kriet, Allie Mills, and Nicole
Scates.
In order to earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, the student-athlete
must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade-point average of at
least 3.500, and have been enrolled at their present school for at
least two semesters.
