
Gardner-Webb Releases 2009-10 Wrestling Schedule

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team will have a tough challenge ahead for them in 2009-10, as the Bulldogs schedule is chalked full with tough opponents from start to finish, with only three matches coming at home.
The Bulldogs will hit the mat for the first time on November 8, as
Gardner-Webb will compete at the Hokie Open hosted by Virginia Tech
in Salem, Va.
Gardner-Webb will then have its first dual meet of the season on
November 13, as Coach Wince's squad will go head-to-head with the
Mocs of UT-Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
GWU will remain on the road for its next eight bouts, with four of
those being open meets, two being head-to-head matches and the
other two coming in tri-meet and quad meet action.
Coach Wince's squad will wrap up the month of November in the
piedmont part of the state of North Carolina, as on November 14,
the Bulldogs will compete in the ACC Challenge in Chapel Hill,
N.C., before taking on Utah Valley State in Greensboro, N.C. on
November 19. GWU will then take part in the N.C. State Open in
Raleigh, N.C. on November 21, wrapping up its first month of
action.
The Bulldogs will compete in the Davidson Open on December 5 at
Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., before heading north to take on
VMI in a dual meet in Lexington, Va. on December 11.
Again the Bulldogs will compete in the annual Southern Scuffle,
hosted by UNC-Greensboro in Greensboro, N.C. on December 29-30,
where Gardner-Webb has had a number of wrestlers fair well over the
years.
After a three week break from action, the Bulldogs will compete
against Davidson, Franklin and Marshall in Davidson, N.C. on
January 19, before heading back to the state of Virginia to take on
both Virginia Tech and UNC-Greensboro on January 17 in Blacksburg,
Va.
Gardner-Webb's first home match will take place on January 20, as
the Bulldogs will host N.C. State and Appalachian State in a
tri-meet format. The next match will also be at home, as the
Bulldogs will host Campbell and Belmont Abbey on January 26.
GWU will then return to the road to compete at the Appalachian
State Open in Boone, N.C. on January 30 and then travel to Buies
Creek, N.C. on February 6 to participate in the East Regional Duals
at Campbell University.
The Bulldogs final home match will come on February 16, as GWU will
host The Citadel.
In its final tune up before the NCAA Regional's, the Bulldogs will
take on the Duke Blue Devils in Durham, N.C. on February 19.
This year the NCAA East Regional meet will be hosted in
Millersville, Pa. on March 6, with the 2010 NCAA National
Championships taking place on March 18-20 in Omaha, Nebraska.
