Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb volleyball team will kick off a stretch of five straight home matches on Tuesday night, as the Lady Bulldogs will play host to Presbyterian College at 7 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb (7-10, 1-1 Big South) are currently riding a two-match
winning streak, including a 3-1 road conference win over Radford on
Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs enter play this week with seven wins already on
the season, two more than the team had all of last season.
GWU will look to continue its strong play this week, as the Lady
Bulldogs will host three matches over five days. The Lady Bulldogs
will host Presbyterian College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and then
the Davidson Wildcats on Friday night at 7 p.m. Gardner-Webb will
then turn around and take on Charleston Southern at 2 p.m. on
Saturday afternoon in the friendly confines of Paul Porter
Arena.
Gardner-Webb is a perfect 4-0 against the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College since moving to Division I in 2000-01. The Lady Bulldogs swept the Blue Hose last season, winning first at PC 3-0 on September 26 and then holding of the Blue Hose for a 3-2 win at home in late October.
Presbyterian College is 5-9 overall this season and 0-1 in
conference play so far this season.
Friday night's match-up between Davidson and Gardner-Webb will be
the second match-up between these two teams thus far this season
having played only three weeks ago at the Wingate Inn Classic
hosted by Winthrop University. The Lady Bulldogs won that match
3-2, having to hold off the Wildcats down the stretch. With that
win, GWU improved to 2-4 all-time versus Davidson.
Gardner-Webb is 2-4 all-time versus the Lady Buccaneers of
Charleston Southern. Saturday's match up will be the first of two
scheduled bouts between these two teams this season.
Entering play this week, Charleston Southern is 9-6 overall and 1-0
in conference play.
