Lady Bulldogs Down USC-Upstate 3-1 Thursday Night

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team traveled
down to Spartanburg, S.C. to face former Atlantic-Sun foe
USC-Upstate and left with a victory Thursday night as the Lady
Bulldogs defeated the Spartans by a score of 3-1 at County
University Soccer Stadium.
The Spartans (0-4-0) got on the offensive early in the contest, with freshman Ashlee Barrow scoring during the 4th minute, but the Lady Bulldogs (1-3-0) fought back, with junior Sarah Keyser finding the back of the net off of a penalty kick in the 28th minute to tie the match and record her first goal of the season.
The Lady Bulldogs then scored again nine minutes later when sophomore Megan Tremblay was able to score her first goal of the season off of a stolen goal kick. The two teams continued to play each other tough throughout the majority of the second half until sophomore Megan Reimer was able to record her first goal of the season after having the ball just go over the reach of Spartan freshman goalkeeper Sian Jenkins to find the back of the net.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action this Saturday as they host The Citadel. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
